Temples are places where deities of lord are worshipped but the question arises, are temples only places of worship? The answer is No, temples are educational centres where people are taught science of living life. Temples play a vital role in the integration and development of society.
T stands for – Tranquility (Tranquility comes from divine vibrations, these vibrations come from constant chanting of holy name of lord).
E stands for – Education (ISKCON temples provide spiritual education, and spiritual education points to a way better form of happiness which is eternal).
M stands for –Medication (Vedic scriptures explain that remembrance of God is a cure to our deceased mentality)
P stands for – Purification (spiritual knowledge and practices cleanse our mind and heart it makes bad people good and good people best).
L stands for – Love (temple is a place where we experience Krishna’s love for us and this fulfils our hunger for love)
E stands for -Engagement(we express our love for Krishna by serving him in the temples and by serving his devotees and this serving leads to engagement in the loving service of supreme personality of godhead).
“With a single fragment of Myself, I pervade and support this entire universe.”
(Lord Krishna, Bhagavad-Gita 10.42)
Despite his omnipresence, we couldn’t see him because to see lord Krishna, the supreme personality of Godhead, we require spiritual vision. In temples, we associate with people who have such great spiritual vision and by their association, we tend to enhance our spiritual vision, and this helps us to learn to perceive Lord’s presence in the form of “ARCHA-VIGRAHA”.
Vedic ancient temples’ history shows and even scriptures describe, how temples contribute to the upliftment of society as a whole. We can see temples such as Sri Jagannath Puri Dham, Tirupati Balaji, Udupi Krishna and Iskcon temples etc. feeding thousands of people for free. Temples provide education and teach perfect way of leading life.
In ISKCON Temple, We perform different activities and run different campaigns for the welfare of society.

In temple, due to constant chanting of holy name, its environment becomes positive and full of transcendental vibrations. The process of worship of deities is followed with more perfection in temples due to these sevas, lord resides inside temple in the form of deities and blesses everyone who takes darshans. Just by taking darshans of Sri Vigraha of lord many of our sins get destroyed. ISKCON temples are Vedic and cultural centres. Iskcon temple provides visitors with free classes related to Vedic scriptures, we even provide them with counselling sessions for free. Thus, temple visits can help us to learn about Vedic scriptures.
Some more benefits of visiting temples –
Former President of India, the Late Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam said,
“Bhaktivedanta Hospital’s commitment to providing quality healthcare services to everyone, without any discrimination, is really commendable. When I visit the hospital facilities, I see the goodness everywhere. Please keep it up”.
The heart of the entire temple is the Lord of the Universe, Lord Jagannath, along with His siblings, Baladeva and Subhadra. ISKCON is also the home of Shri Shri Radha Madan Mohan Ji, who blesses all the inhabitants of Ghaziabad with Their merciful glances.
Since the opening of the temple, ISKCON Ghaziabad has been focusing on youth outreach as the city of Ghaziabad is home to many of India’s top engineering colleges. The temple has newly opened a BBT book store, large conference, seminar, and food halls to help facilitate more and more youth crowd.
Temples are not just a structure. According to Vedic philosophy, temples are places where the lord is not only worshipped but also society is served with different means.
ISKCON temples are sacred places as well as centres of education, preaching and cultural activities.
Why We Should Contribute Together To Build Temples –
Srimad Bhagavatam 11.27.51-52 explains-
Even our founder acharya AC BHAKTIVEDANTA SWAMI SRILA PRABHUPADA says-
“If you build a temple of Lord Krishna in this world, then Lord Krishna will build a palace for you in the spiritual world- Vaikuntha”.
ISKCON Ghaziabad is building a new temple in wave city Ghaziabad and this project has been named “pride of Ghaziabad”.
ISKCON’S different initiatives for youth and for societal benefit have been praised for years. ISKCON temple has contributed in so many ways to make society a better place for everyone.
The never-ending services of ISKCON for society’s welfare are even awarded and praised by many famous personalities all around the world.
We need to build a temple so that our services can reach every corner of the world. We just don’t build a temple, we build education centres, free prasadam centres, free counselling centres, we build a place where people can find real happiness.
We feed more than 20,00,000 plates every day for free. During COVID-19 time ISKCON temples served everyone by feeding millions of plates of sanctified food. We even turned our temples into hospitals for those who were affected by COVID-19.
We are so happy to announce that this new project of ISKCON Ghaziabad is one of the biggest projects in western Uttar Pradesh. We are happy that with the opening of this new temple which will have a capacity to serve thousands of devotees every day, we would be able to serve more.
This new temple will be a mark, love, care and seva’s.
We would have a big temple hall which would help thousands of devotees in taking darshan of deities comfortably. ISKCON is famous for its free meal serving programmes and we are happy to announce that with the opening of this new temple, we would be able to serve thousands of people every day with sumptuous prasadam.
Just by starting the construction of a temple for Lord, sins committed in seven births will be erased and one will deliver one’s forefathers who are suffering in hellish planets” and “who sponsors a temple of Lord Vishnu, gets ten million times the advantages accured by Yajna, Austerities, Charities, Pilgrimage and study of Vedas. – Skanda Purana.
