Paths to Self-Realization
The Vedic scriptures describe two paths to attain spiritual growth:
Pravritti Marg
Focuses on material enjoyment and religious duties within the world. A longer, indirect path where dissatisfaction with material pursuits gradually leads one toward renunciation.
Nivritti Marg
Centers on detachment and selfless service to the Supreme Lord. The shortest and most effective path to real happiness and liberation. Three of the four ashramas — brahmachari, vanaprastha, and sannyasa — align with Nivritti Marg.
